The Fun House exhibit is back at the National Building Museum as of July 4th and is the centerpiece of their Summer Block Party installation, now in its 5th year. The Fun House is created by New York’s Snarkitecture design firm.
The exhibit takes up the entire Great Hall at the museum and pulls together design concepts the firm has installed in various cities over the years. This is not a home show nor is it a showcase of products; the exhibit is literally a fun house that shows creative concept and art pieces.
Look for The Beach, a pool deck in the simulated backyard that fills two pools with thousands of plastic balls. Other attractions include Dig, a giant foyer, the Light Cavern bedroom, a Marble Run, and the Playhouse, a forced perspective structure. There’s also a pillow fort and 3-D wallpaper in the kitchen zone.
