JBG Smith is on another round of aggressive tenant recruitment, this time for their Eckington Yards project. They continue to succeed on their goal of bringing in quality, locally-owned businesses that bring real character and flavor to their developments with the signing of Union Kitchen to the NE development.

Union Kitchen, based in Ivy City, is a food incubator that has launched several small local businesses. They currently are opening two grocery stores in DC’s One Franklin Square project and in Arlington’s Ballston Quarter. No details are available yet exactly on what Union Kitchen will be bringing to Eckington Yards.

Eckington Yards will include 682 residential units and 70,000 sq. ft. around a shared, pedestrian street. Other tenant recruitment this year includes Brooklyn Boulders, who will be opening a 35,000 sq. ft. rock climbing center onsite. The project is just north of NoMa and is near the upcoming Foulger-Pratt mixed use project. The Metropolitan Branch Trail will be revised and straightened to run directly through Eckington Yards.
