A new mixed use development is planned to take the place of a restaurant on a triangular site where Hamlin Street NE meets Rhode Island Avenue, NE in Langdon. The developer is Addisleigh Park Washington Properties.
The parcel currently contains a restaurant that is planned for demolition.
Woodridge Commons, the new project, will convert to a combination of restaurant/rooftop bar on the mezzanine, second and penthouse levels with a street level coffee shop, possible grocery store or co-working space in the mix.
Designs by the developers are set up to allow various commercial uses of the space as listed above and is designed to provide flexibility in the space to respond to “uncertain market demand” in the neighborhood.
The triangular building designed by Studio Upwall architects. The project has support from the ANC 5C and has not yet scheduled a Board of Zoning Appeals hearing.
Studio Upwall is the architect of the development, which received unanimous support from the ANC 5C at a September 2018 meeting. A BZA hearing has not yet been scheduled.
