Six Older Bethesda Apartments Planned To Become 1,500 Units of High Rises

Developers in downtown Bethesda have plans to replace a set of garden-style apartments along Battery Lane with a portfolio of new rental apartment towers up to 180 feet tall.

An existing 477 older apartments spread across 6 garden-style buildings will redevelop to nearly 1,500 units in several high-rises if plans are approved Aldon Management Corp. is the owner of the sites and is working with the Bethesda Downtown Design Advisory Panel under the name Brown Development LLC for the project.

The existing buildings are 50+ years old and will be replaced in stages during a 10-15 year overall project. The project’s working name is the Battery Lane District with the new towers being built on several non-connecting parcels making up 11.3 acres. Overall, the site(s) are in a great location right next to the Harris Teeter-anchored Flats 8300 building less than a mile from the Bethesda METRO.
