New Georgia Avenue Grocery Anchored Project With 300 Units Planned

Brightwood is the latest DC neighborhood showing signs of a new grocery store-anchored mixed use development.

Georgia Crossing is a conceptual project by developers in the planning stage that revolves around a site near the Georgia Avenue & Missouri Avenue NW intersection. The project includes over 300 new apartments and 40,000 sq. ft. of retail, including 22,000 sq. ft. set aside for grocery.

The project’s future is linked to the old DC-owned Old Engine Company 22 firehouse at 5760 Georgia Avenue, NW, already relocated to the Parks at Walter Reed new development.

A development team lead by the Neighborhood Development Corporation is in talks with multiple grocery brands including Aldi to anchor the project.
