The redevelopment of the historic Bond Bread Factory and Washington Railway & Electric Company buildings, part of Howard University’s real estate holdings, has moved into zoning meetings. The University has applied to exclude both historic properties from their overall Campus Plan.
Once the exclusion is approved, the project would deliver 450 residential units, 156 hotel rooms, up to 300 parking spots, and restaurant, retail, park and marketplace components. The University has already successfully removed multiple other properties from the overall campus plan since 2017.
The overall development team includes Howard University, Fivesquares Development, EDENS and the Menkiti Group.
